Two of our Royal Mail interns have both been employed by Royal Mail as Christmas temps and as part of their Anguard Casual Team.
They have been taking part in a Pilot Programme for supported internships at Royal Mail since February 2019. During this time the interns have built a number of skills in working in a warehouse environment.
Both interns have gained considerate boosts to their confidence and life skills since February and have made a big impression at Royal Mail especially within the Charity Team where both students have volunteered and supported in charity events for Action for Children and Demelza House.
One intern said – “I started coming to the Royal Mail in February. When I started this experience I was unsure what to expect. I was looking forward to it. When I came here everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. From the moment I walk into the Royal Mail, everyone says “Hi” and talks to me. I feel like part of the team here. During the last 3 months, I have worked in different areas of the plant floor including inward and outward tracks and scanning and moors. My favourite of these has been the scanning and tracks. Since coming here I have noticed a change in my attitude to work, coming here makes me feel more responsible. I have become more positive about my future. My daily routine has improved and I am living a healthier lifestyle.”
